What is Wim Hof Method? What does it entail?

The Wim Hof Method is a breathing and meditation technique that can help people improve their overall health and wellness. The method was created by Wim Hof, also known as the “Iceman,” for his ability to withstand freezing temperatures for long durations.

The Wim Hof Method is a natural, science-backed way based on three crucial pillars: breathing, cold therapy, and commitment.

Breathing is the foundation of the Wim Hof Method. All the breathing exercises are designed to help improve your respiratory system and overall lung capacity. You can control your autonomic nervous system and improve your mental and physical health through controlled breathing.

Cold therapy is a key part of the Wim Hof Method. It is the second pillar of the Wim Hof Method. This can be done through ice baths, cold showers, or even sitting in a cold room. Cold therapy aims to help your body become more resilient to stress and improve your immune system. Exposure to cold temperatures can boost your immune system, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation.

Commitment: The third and last pillar of the Wim Hof Method is commitment. By committing to a regular practice of breathing and cold therapy, you can see lasting results in your health and well-being. It also means setting realistic goals and pushing yourself to achieve them.

Now, let’s learn what attracted Kan to Wim Hof Method and what made her decide to become a certified instructor.

How did Kam become interested in the Wim Hof Method

During uncertain times, people turned to different outlets to find relief from their stress. Kam decided to take her Wim Hof Method practice to the next level.

Here’s why.

When the COVID restrictions shut down her yoga studio, she found herself in a sticky position. Scared for herself and her family’s safety because there was no information about when they would be able to open up again, she felt stressed all the time due to not knowing what next steps should take place.

Kam had always been a very calm person; however, after the coronavirus pandemic hit, Kam found herself unable to control her mind when it inevitably turned into fear or anxiety-filled thoughts. She tried meditation as an approach that was usually effective at helping people relax and unwind, but even her old methods failed to help.

Kam was desperate to find something that would help her anxiety and stress melt away. Trying the ice bath worked wonders for her because she could finally relax for a few minutes. The technique is one of three pillars of Wim Hof’s Method; others, being breathing or mindset can have a transformative effect too.

The difficulties faced by Kam

The road to becoming strong and knowledgeable enough was not as smooth as thought. She faced some grave problems but braved them like the real ‘Ice Man’ himself.

Kam hated cold. The Wim Hof Method ice bath is not easy; it can be especially tough on people who have spent their whole life in hot climates. The change of temperature an individual from a South East Asian country experiences feels more extreme than someone else living abroad like her partner who is from the UK.

How did Wim Hof Method help Kam?

Kam found that her experience in the ice water was much more intense than other forms of meditation. Within minutes she could feel herself becoming at peace for once. She longed for this peace and was happy to have finally achieved it.

Ice baths might sound like a crazy idea initially, but the physical benefits are real, and Kam found herself hooked on this feeling. It’s not just about an intense mental boost. She believes that something else happens inside you when your body adapts to these ice-cold waters that make you happy.

Everyone can reap the advantages of the therapy.
